Help for your road to the batizado
Corda Nova is a preparation book for capoeira students working toward their next cord. Here are answers to the questions students ask most, and a form to reach us.
Common questions
How do I set my batizado date?
On the first page, tap Edit next to the date. Enter the name, venue, date and time your group announced. The countdown, the weekly plan and the reminders all follow that date.
My group uses different cord colours.
Open Cord ladder. Choose the graduation system closest to your group (Contemporânea flag colours, Regional scarves or Angola levels), then use the ••• menu on any cord to rename it, change its colours or move it. You can also add cords.
How does an item become "learned"?
Tick it on the checklist, or log it as practised in three diary entries. The checklist shows the items for the stage of your next cord plus anything you have not yet learned from earlier stages.
How is the tap-along score calculated?
After four count-in clicks the toque plays four cycles. Each stroke you hit within about 170 ms counts; closer is better, and the right pad (Dong, Ding or Chi) doubles the value. Extra taps cost points. The result tells you whether you rush or drag.
I do not hear the berimbau.
Check the volume. Short interface sounds follow the ring/silent switch; the trainer itself plays even in silent mode. You can turn sound effects off in Settings.
Reminders are not arriving.
Turn on reminders in Settings or in the batizado editor and allow notifications when asked. If you declined earlier, enable notifications for Corda Nova in the iOS Settings app.
Where is my data? Can I move it to a new phone?
Everything is stored only on your device, including photos. It is included in your normal device backup. Settings › Erase all progress deletes it from the app.
The sequence in the app differs from what my mestre teaches.
Lineages teach Mestre Bimba's sequences with small differences. Use the notes field on each sequence to write down your mestre's version.
